“Different types of computers require different hardware configurations”

Home, Study or Office Computer

Office computers (Unless Requested) generally need a common “budget” hardware configuration.

A low speed dual core processor, budget motherboard and low speed RAM is well suited for an office computer.

The onboard graphics and sound are fine and a small hard drive is usually suitable.

Multimedia / HTPC Computers

A more up-scale system than a home or office is required for a HTPC.

The amount and speed of RAM should be increased and processor as a minimum should be a high speed dual core or quad core processor.

If used for computer games then more importance should be given to the graphics card in this type of computer, else the onboard 1080p capable video is fine.

Gaming Computers

A gaming system should be be built using high quality components and several fans for high airflow and cooling.

A Quad Core or Hyperthreaded Quad Core CPU, high speed ram and solid state hard drive are recommended.

One or more Video Cards that provide at least 30 frames per second (preferably over 60 frames per second) for the games being played.

A HD LCD monitor of 24’’ is recommended and a 3D high Hz monitor optional. Quality speakers or headset, multimedia keyboard and a durable mouse are other important things for a gaming PC.
